For many years we have been able to dispose of our glass and bottle waste with the on site bottle bank. Unfortunately, due to local council cuts and changes to local residential refuse collection policies, the local council have withdrawn this free facility. This serves as a timely reminder to allow us all to rethink how we dispose of our rubbish while on site. There are three waste containers on the caravan site and one on the island. We are approaching our busiest summer period and therefore ask that you consider the following and help us keep our club clean, tidy and healthy.
|
- If your local council collect glass as part of your weekly refuse collection, please take your empty bottles home for disposal. After all, you managed to bring them when full.
- Please be considerate and compress your waste as much as possible. Cans, packets and plastic bottles can easily be compressed.
- Make sure your waste bags are sturdy and sealed. This prevents escaping odours and helps keep the rubbish compressed.
- If you see loose rubbish by the bins, please pick it up. It is unsightly, potentially harmful to wildlife and attracts vermin.
- Packing materials from your new purchases, please take these home with you. We have 3 waste containers to serve around 60 caravans. This equates to one twentieth of a container for each plot. Please be considerate to other's waste needs.
- There is a modern tidy tip in St. Neots which is not far from the frequently used Tesco. Please use this tidy tip for items other than general waste. As a rule of thumb, if it doesn't go in your caravan or awning bin. Don't put it in the waste bins.
- The waste container on the island should be used for waste from the clubhouse and for use by day members. Please apply the same methodologies as above.

At the end of season, please ensure that your plot is left tidy over winter. The only items permitted to be left on site are a picnic table and a wetsuit rack.
